Docker on macOS

Installation

Step 1 — Download Docker Desktop

• Visit the official Docker Desktop for Mac page.
• Download the version corresponding to your chip architecture:
  • Intel Chip: x86_64
  • Apple Chip: ARM64 (M1/M2/M3/M4)

Step 2 — Run the installer

1. Open the downloaded .dmg file.
2. Drag Docker.app to the Applications folder.
3. Launch Docker from the Applications folder.
4. Follow any prompts to allow system permissions and complete the installation.

Verify Installation

Open a terminal and run:

docker --version
docker run hello-world
